Geyser Calculator
Analyze any geyser, vent, volcano or fissure — average output, taming, dormancy storage, cooling, oxygen, and power. Enter what your geyser's analysis panel shows, or dial in the five random rolls.

Nerd numbers — the five random rolls
Each geyser rolls five 0–1 values that scale its stats between the type's min and max. Edit a roll to see the observed values above update, or edit the observed values to back-solve the rolls.
Analyze any Oxygen Not Included geyser
The geyser calculator turns your geyser's analysis panel into everything you need to tame it: average output in kg/s and kg/cycle, the five random rolls that set its stats, dormancy storage in reservoirs, the cooling load in steam-turbine equivalents, oxygen and duplicants supported, and generator power for Natural Gas and Hydrogen vents. Add Geotuner boosts to see the +20%-per-boost output, the element cost, and any phase change when the hotter output boils.
Every number comes straight from the live game — the same Resample curve the game uses to roll
a geyser — so the results match what you see in-game and stay current with each update including the Aquatic Planet Pack. Feed a geyser's output into the farm, food and ranch calculators to plan the rest of your colony.
Geyser calculator FAQ
- How is a geyser's average output calculated in Oxygen Not Included?
- Average output = emission while erupting × active fraction (eruption on-time ÷ period) × active-of-year (active cycles ÷ total cycles). The calculator derives all of this from the values on your geyser's in-game analysis panel, or from the five 0–1 rolls the game assigns, and shows it in kg/s and kg/cycle.
- What does geotuning do to a geyser?
- Each Geotuner adds +20% to output (up to +100% with 5) and raises the output temperature by a per-type amount, while consuming an element (Bleach Stone, Salt, Polluted Dirt, Abyssalite or Refined Phosphorus). The calculator shows the boosted output, the geotuner input cost per cycle, and warns when the hotter output boils into a new element.
- How much storage do I need for a geyser's dormancy?
- During dormancy the geyser produces nothing, so you buffer the active-period surplus. The calculator multiplies dormant cycles by the average output to get the kilograms to store, then converts that to Liquid Reservoirs (5000 kg) or Gas Reservoirs (1000 kg).
